I have put these together because this work has involved a great deal of input from another person.
The Memorial is a very large empty library. I was commissioned by Donald Droppo the owner of Curtis Packaging to make a piece to commemorate the lives lost at Sandy Hook in on December 14, 2012. Curtis Packaging is less than a mile from the Sandy Hook Elementary School. Donald found out that at that time the parents and families of the victims really did not want their love one’s names or images in the piece.
Eventually we came up with the idea of the library. The six stacks of books represent the adult educators who died and there are twenty small chairs haphazardly arranged in the library for the 20 children who died. The date is etched on the entrance floor, December 14, 2012.
The Memorial is at Curtis Packaging.
The Collaborative work was done with Tim Tate. There are three pieces, in which Tim has created infinity mirror spaces. Two have figures that I’ve made and remind me of Urban subways. The third was my adventure into the canine world “Canine Academy.”
